Velvet Sky is once again offering the cheapest flight on the Johannesburg to Durban route - this was the result of our survey, comparing prices of one-way flights, coach trips and train trips leaving Johannesburg between 17h29 and 20h36 on Friday the 27th of May 2011. Air fares are substantially pricier than they were six weeks ago (it's Comrades Marathon weekend), but if you check below you'll see that Mango's Flex and Plus tickets are selling at a cheaper price (on the same flight) than the normal economy tickets - a reminder to always check Mango's business flight prices! You could score yourself an unexpected upgrade in addition to saving a couple of hundred!
This week, SA Roadlink is offering the cheapest overland trip on the Johannesburg to Durban route at R150 - R50 more expensive than last time we did this survey, but with the current fuel prices no one's going to argue that that's a bargain. Please note that the prices below are subject to change and that availability is, naturally, limited.

Weekend of 27 - 29 May
If you're going to be in KwaZulu-Natal on the weekend of the 27th of May you're in luck as there are some exciting annual events taking place.
The Comrades Marathon is happening on Sunday the 29th and is set to be a very fun event for spectators. This year it's beginning in Pietermaritzburg and finishing in Durban and it's expected that about 13 000 runners will cross the finish line. The first Comrades Marathon took place on the 24th of May 1921, making this the 90th Comrades event. Check out the Comrades website here for more info.
Also not to be missed this weekend are The Royal Show and the Bushfire Festival 2011.
