Kulula cheapest end of holidays |
15 July 2011 flights |
Whether you were travelling from Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo or Lanseria Airport to Cape Town, Kulula was cheapest in this survey (even cheaper than the Intercape bus!). Bus prices are looking especially high, perhaps because the weekend of 15 - 17 July is the last weekend of SA school holidays. Velvet Sky are usually cheapest, but their Johannesburg to Cape Town flight(which cost R531) leaves mid-morning (and the survey compares prices of one-way flights, coach trips and train trips from Johannesburg to Cape Town, leaving Johannesburg after 18h19 but before 20h36). Please note that this article does not constitute an offer, it is merely a snapshot of prices - the prices in this article are subject to change (perhaps even by the time you read this).

We did some hunting around to find out what's going down in the mother city on the weekend of 15 - 17 July and came up with a few interesting results, the most notable of which is the Cape Town Fashion Week. Well, it's actually four days and not a week, but it's one of Cape Town's hottest annual events and definitely worth checking out! It's taking place between the 13th and the 16th of July, and if you manage to get hold of tickets to one of the shows - go!
On another arty note, the Russian Ballet Company is performing the Nutcracker at the Artscape on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of July - tickets are currently going for about R135.
Finally, if you're in the mood for a little drive through the vineyards you might like to see what the Franschhoek Bastille Festival is all about. It is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday (16th and 17th July) and in true Franschhoek style is promising some mindblowingly fine dining (and wining). It should also offer an interesting look at what the French Huguenots brought to the Cape!
