Bookies and fashionistas alike will be delighted to be in Cape Town for the weekend of the 11th of January, as the 151st running of the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate takes place at Kenilworth Racecourse on the 12th of January 2013. Along with betting on the horse races, visitors can enjoy the array of fashions as celebrities dress up according to the blue and white theme. Fine food and wines will be on sale and a vintage car display will be set up for viewings.

Travel prices from Johannesburg to Cape Town

This week, we surveyed the prices of flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town on Friday the 11th of January 2013. The cheapest flight we found was R958 with Kulula, leaving from Lanseria Airport (prices may change). Shosholoza Meyl's tourist class train was still sold out on this route, as travellers make their way home after the festive season. Economy class tickets are still available on this route and proved to be the cheapest way to travel to Cape Town. When we checked car rental prices at Cape Town Airport, Europcar offered the best rates at R408 for rental of a Kia Picanto or similar for the weekend. Please note that all prices will change.

Cape Town Airport Car Rentals

Europcar offered the cheapest car hire quote for Cape Town when we surveyed the prices of renting a car from Cape Town International Airport from 21h00 on Friday the 11th of January 2013 until 13h00 on Sunday the 13th of January 2013. Europcar offered a Kia Picanto or similar for this period at R408 (R204 per day), including 200 km's per day. (Please note prices are subject to change).
