This week, we compared the prices of flights, buses and car hire from Johannesburg to Durban. Kulula from Lanseria was the most affordable option for flights to the coastal town, offering passengers a one way flight at R695 per person. Shosholoza Meyl's economy class train offered passengers the cheapest travel option at R130 per person, and a City to City coach cost R270 per person when we checked. The cheapest car hire rates we found for the weekend in Durban were from Europcar. Please note that all prices will change.
Events in Durban
Visitors to Durban will get the opportunity to watch a tribute to the King of Pop at the iZulu Theatre's production of Michael Jackson History 2 from the 14th of December 2012 until the 6th of January 2013. Tickets are on sale for R250 per person.

Europcar is cheapest at R408 for 2 days
When we checked, Europcar offered the cheapest car hire in Durban. We priced the cost of renting a car from Durban Airport from 21h00 on Friday the 4th of January 2013 until 13h00 on Sunday the 6th of January 2013. A Kia Picanto or similar will cost R408 for the weekend (R204 per day), with 200 kilometres a day included. Please note that prices will change.
