Wave goodbye to 2012 at the V&A Waterfront's New Year's Eve Concert and Fireworks taking place on the 31st of December 2012. 2013 will be welcomed in style with the help of live music and a dazzling fireworks display. The party will take place at the outdoor amphitheatre and tickets are R250 per person.

The costs of travel to the Mother City for New Year's Eve proved to be pricier than other times of the year, as passenger volumes to the city increase. The cheapest one way flight we found was R1 779 with Mango (prices may change). Bus prices have shown a dramatic increase and Shosholoza Meyl's tourist class train tickets are completely sold out on the Durban to Cape Town route for the holiday season. Drive South Africa had the cheapest available vehicle for hire when we checked, offering a Kia Picanto or similar at R488 for a weekend's rental. Please note that all prices may have changed.

Drive South Africa is the cheapest from Cape Town Airport

We priced the costs of car hire from Cape Town International Airport from 21h00 on Friday the 28th of December 2012 until 13h00 on Sunday the 30th of December 2012. Drive South Africa offered the cheapest rates at R488 for a Kia Picanto or similar for the weekend, including unlimited day mileage. Please note that prices may change.
