In this last survey for 2013, we compared the prices of travel from Johannesburg to Durban. As South Africans settle into the new working year, airports become quieter and the flight prices have decreased as we move away from the festive season and the school holidays. Mango flights were cheapest, with the option of departing from OR Tambo at R665 per person for the one way flight (prices may change). The cheapest land travel option was R140 per way with Shosholoza Meyl's economy class train (prices will change). SA Roadlink offered the most affordable rate for bus trips, at R200 per person per way (prices will change). If you would like to hire a vehicle from King Shaka Airport in Durban, you can expect to pay R375 for a Citroen C1 or similar for the weekend's rental. Please note that all prices can fluctuate.
Events in Durban
The Scottburgh Half Marathon and 10km road run will take place on Sunday the 19th of January 2014 and will follow a route along the coast from Scottburgh to Widenham and back again. The race will start at the Scottburgh main beach at 6am.

Citroen C1 is cheapest in Durban
We compared the prices of car hire at King Shaka Airport from 21h00 on Friday the 17th of January 2014 until 13h00 on Sunday the 19th of January 2014. Car Trawler offered the cheapest option that we found with a Citroen C1 or similar offered at R375 for the weekend, with 100 kilometres a day included. Please note that prices will change.
