Bluu car rental Pensioner Special

The key here is to mention the "P15" special pensioner promo code when you phone (086-101-7722) you reservation in. You must be over 60 years old to qualify for the pensioner special.

ProShop Deals

All members are The ProShop are eligble to get discounted car rentals with Bluu.

Supersport Schools Special

All parents of children at Supersport Schools are eligible for car hire discounts with Bluu, by using the rate/promo codes "S4S" if they're picking up their rental car in the Eastern Cape Province or KZN, rate/promo code "S3S" if they're picking up in the Western Cape Province, rate/promo code "S2S" if they're picking up their car in any of the Inland provinces.

PGA Members Discount

All members of the Professional Golfers Association of South Africa are eligible to get discounted Bluu car rentals. The "GPA" rate/promo code must be used.

Bluu News

• 1 Feb 2024. Bluu Car Rental opens a branch in Luderitz, Namibia (phone +264-81-129-5583 or email vouchers.lz@bcr.co.za) on Old Bay Road near the Obelix Guest House.

• 16 Sep 2021. Bidvest Car Hire rebrands to Bluu Car Rental.

• 16 Aug 2021. The Thesele Consortium purchases Bidvest Car Rental from the Bidvest Group, triggering a rebrand to Bluu.

• 24 Nov 2017. Bidvest Car Hire offers a "Blue Friday" special, with vehicle prices running from R155 per day, up unti midnight.

• 5 Nov 2017. Bidvest Car Rental has teamed up with ASG, who are running the 98km Tshwane Classic bicycle race (there are also shorter versions). Bidvest will provide 15 vehicles to either act as lead vehicles or help with logistics.

• 23 Jan 2017. Bidvest launches "Snappdrive", an app which allows clients to find their car with their phone's GPS, unlock their vehicle and start their car without a physical key.

• Bidvest CEO, Paulette McGhee said in February 2015, “It’s been a smooth transition. Our staff – inclusive of our senior management team which have been with the Budget brand for, on average, 17 years – have fully supported the move and the feedback from customers has been positive. • For the past 10 years, Bidvest has managed Budget Car Hire successfully. But at the end of 2014, officially effective on the 1st of March 2015, Bidvest decided not to renew the agreement, and to continue to function independently under a Proudly South African brand, Bidvest Car Rental. The existing management and team remain as they were.

• Feb 2015. Bluu car rental joins Twitter.

• Since 2011, Bidvest has been a proud supporter of the Pink Drive in their fight to raise awareness of Breast Cancer and the need for early detection. Bidvest Car Rental sponsor two Toyota Avanzas and a Quantum full time to the Team at Pink Drive as they travel all over the country promoting awareness. Bidvest feels that education for all is extremely important , and therefore the places great importance on supporting this NGO to spread the word, which allows underprivileged communities the opportunity to learn about this disease, how to do self breast examinations and receive physical examinations.

Register

You can create an online profile on Bluu's website by filling in the following form complete with your identification or passport number, names, email and a password (you can opt in to receive marketing and promotional material - I did!):

After filling in the above form correctly and clicking "Register", it will say "Congratulations. You successfully created your Bluu online profile." You should then receive an email from reservations@bcr.co.za saying:

"Hi Joe Soap

Please confirm your Bluu Car Rental online profile by clicking the link below (or copy and paste the URL into your browser):
https://www.bluucarrental.com/login/anybullname/

Please note: If you do not activate your account within two days, you will have to sign up again.

The joint ownership is legally formed by their ownership of "The Thesele Consortium", which in turn owns Bluu Car Rental.
