Review of LisbonIvonique flew with TAP Airlines to Lisbon for her honeymoon: "I was impressed by the services on board in the plane, very good food." They stayed at the Eduardo VII Hotel: "Even if the furniture is kind of old, I would recommend this hotel for his price range." And of the sights in Lisbon: "I was impressed by the Commerce Square, the statues and the Tejo river close by." They also visited the Castelo de S. Jorge: "I liked the medieval royal atmosphere up there. It is mostly ruins, but the city panorama is amazing." South Africans may be interested in visiting the Jeronimos Monastery and see Vasco da Gama's tomb. On the Tower of Belem: "I liked this defense tower build also in the Manueline style that combines elements of moore, renaissance and gothic elements. It was practically built over the Tejo River. I was impressed by the statues found here." If you're mobile enough, we recommend staying at the Casa Do Bairro B&B/apartments (it's at the bottom of a steep street with cobblestones) in the heart of old Lisbon, near the River Tejo (and walking distance from the Barrio Alto and Chiado nightlife). Book a room with ocean views. |
