The next time you're buying your bread and milk at Shoprite/Checker, you may want to also stop by & purchase flight tickets! Mango Airlines pioneered the retail sale of airline tickets when it started selling flights through Shoprite Checkers Money Market counters in November 2007. Subsequently to Mango pioneering the retail sales of flights, one can also purchase Kulula, Air Namibia, British Airways Comair and South African Airways flights via the counters.
Simply take along your ID document or passport to the nearest Shoprite/Checkers Money Market counter and ask to book a flight with Mango. If you're booking a flight for somebody else, then you'll need a copy of their passport or ID.
Don't expect anything fancy in the way of a flight ticket. What you'll get is something that looks like a till slip, but it works just as well as a fancy glossy ticket, and it'll work just fine when you arrive at Mango Airline's check-in counters at the airport. The "ticket" will contain details of how much you paid, your booking reference number and flight details (eg how many passengers, from where to where they're flying, and on what dates they are flying).
Shoprite Checkers online flight bookings are powered by Computicket, so expect to be directed to that system for you to start and complete your booking.
If you'd rather book bus tickets, Shoprite Checkers Money Market counters are also home to Computicket Travel, which allows you to book intercity bus tickets: Citiliner, Greyhound, Translux, City to City, Eldo and more. Click here for more details.
