Dis lekker in Stilbaai

Bryce, his Swiss friend "Meems", Colin & Babs (from Austria) rented a car, bought a tent and headed to Stilbaai for some surfing, wakeboarding and camping:

  • "you have to be on the top of your game since South African drivers can be absolutely insane"

  • "The unwritten rule of the road is to drive on the shoulder when a car wants to pass, which creates a makeshift 4-lane road out of a two-lane highway. These “extra lanes” exist based only on the discretion of what the driver feels like doing at the time so you have to either drive with balls or get pushed off the road."

  • "We befriended the waiter, a guy about our age, who suggested going to a place called Puffies (I know…. But its not a gay bar)."

  • "The Stilbaai locals were a friendly, rowdy bunch."

  • "After about a mile of jogging in the rain, I was thoroughly soaked but felt some serious relief to see the big green British Petroleum gas station sign up ahead.  I now have a complex love-hate relationship with good ‘ol BP."
