About Malta

Malta is a southern Mediterranean island-country, situated between Italy and Libya. Although Malta has its own language (Maltese), just about everybody speaks English - they even drive on the same side of the road as the English. Italian used to be more popular, until World War II. The capital of Malta is Valletta - take a walk down its streets and notice the Baroque nature. Check out Blue Grotto in Malta, which consists of holes in the cliff walls through which the sea flows. The Megalithic Temples of Malta were built thousands of years ago, and some say they are the oldest free standing buildings in the world.

After her flight to Malta, Ashley head off to charge her batteries before exploring Malta: "It was very much like Tunisia with a French and Spanish flare.  I saw St. Elmo's Fortress, some other ruins and a garden, before looping back to the main shopping street. I was a little bored and wanted to be on the beach, so I took the next bus to St. George's bay."
