Rustenburg is a town in the North-West Provice of South Africa. Rustenburg was founded in 1851 by burghers who, with the Voortrekker leader Andries Pretorius, had settled in the area a decade earlier. Just outside Rustenburg is a refinery, which processes around 70% of the worlds platinum, and the 2 largest platinum mines in the world. Rustenburg is contained in the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality.
Rustenburg lies at the foot of the Magaliesburg mountain range.
