Aquila Game Reserve |
Aquila Private Game Reserve is situated on 4500 ha in the Klein Karoo, approximately 2 hours drive from Cape Town. Located in a malaria free zone, Aquila is home to the Big Five (rhinos, lions, elephants, leopards and buffalo) and a rehabilitation centre for wild animals. Not only do they take conservation issues seriously, they also have excellent safari options to choose from, including a horse back day safari.
You can choose between 11 different programmes, ranging from a short day trip to a longer over night stay. You can even enjoy one of the fly-in safaris, should you prefer to arrive in style.
The Conference Centre, Boma Restaurant and Cigar Bar is ideal for conferences as well as weddings. The tarred road leading right up to the reserve is a big plus and makes it very accessible for large groups. There is also a 35m saltwater pool to cool off in, an adventure centre where the kids can blow off some steam and two restaurants run by an internationally acclaimed chef to tantilise your taste buds.
Graced by rolling mountains and a delightfully rugged Klein Karoo landscape, the luxurious chalets have been designed to blend in masterfully with the surrounding areas. Built into the rock face with log fires in winter and your private jacuzzi with a view in the summer, you are sure to enjoy every moment in this tranquil, 4 star setting. The rustic, 3 star, Loganda Karoo Lodge is also available for accommodation.
Baroness Margaret Thatcher, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Paris Hilton are some of the famous visitors enchanted by Aquila.
