Kichaka Private Game Lodge reservations

We're always on the lookout for quality resorts to spend our time at, and had heard some good things about Kichaka Private Game Lodge, so decided to do a write-up on them. All second hand knowledge, but we're hoping to pay the lodge a personal visit at some point and give a first-hand account of our experiences.

Visitors blog about their Kichaka experiences

Read about what people think of Kichaka - here's a collection of blog entries about their personal experiences.

Tim Holtz experiences paradise

Tim describes his 3 day safari at Kichaka Private Game Lodge as being filled with undisturbed tranquil calm where he was at one with nature. His "experience of a lifetime" began with a flight from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth Airport, where he was taken by van to Kichaka. A Jurassic Park experience was having to fill in indemnity forms on entering Kichaka, in case of harm or possible death! He described his lodge as being "unlike anything I have ever stayed in in my life" - consisting of 3 tiered levels - (1) a bathroom on the top tier with a large bathtub & shower, (2) a bedroom area on the middle tier & (3) a seated area on the bottom tier with sliding doors leading to a private veranda with a personal heated pool. After their game drive staff greeted them with an evening cocktail and warm herbal infused towels. Tim is quite the traveller, and after Kichaka travelled on from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg.

Doug & Brittany enjoy luxurious Kichaka

I feel proud of South Africa when tourists visit and have a good time...and love it even more when they blog about it for the whole world to see! Doug & Brittany were full of praises for Kichaka Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape. The took a 14 hour flight to Cape Town, and after doing the tourist thing there zooted off to Port Elizabeth and the Kichaka Private Game Lodge. The Lodge sounds like an absolute blast - great amenities and plenty of game - between the main lodge and their chalet they saw an elephant and a giraffe! Without even leaving their chalet they saw stax of wildlife (they had a private plunge pool which overlooked the watering hole). For game drives they got private tours with their own ranger and truck. They also highlighted the African foods which were served to them - which they wouldn't have tried if they hadn't been at the lodge.

A more official write-up

Lindsay, from Kichaka, was kind enough to do a more offical write-up for us on Kichaka...

Kichaka is a small 5 star lodge nestled in the heart of the Eastern Cape bush. New on the block, Kichaka offers a unique intimate bush and safari experience combined with exquisite fine dining and wines. Kichaka differs from many other lodges in the area in that it is small - and so the experience is personal and intimate. Emphasis is placed on exquisite cuisine and high quality fine dining – including 3 course dinners, high teas and buffet breakfasts which guests can enjoy on Kichaka's expansive wooden decks, which overlook a waterhole home to resident hippos and numerous other species of the big 5. For star gazers, Kichaka is also unique - offering an education on the stars with Cosmic Safari's - one of only a few lodges in the country to treat guests to this experience.

Kichaka’s story is quite unique - It was opened by a UK businessman, who after a couple of visits to South Africa fell in love with the people, the lifestyle, and indeed the Eastern Cape bush and wildlife. Thus he made the decision to buy his own piece of Africa and open a unique product which both overseas tourists wanting a touch of Africa, as well as locals needing a bit of luxury and pampering , can enjoy. For more information, or to catch a glimpse of this special place that is Kichaka visit www.kichaka.co.za or email info@kichaka.co.za. Your touch of wildlife, adventure, luxury and pampering in an idyllic setting in the heart of the Eastern Cape awaits!
