2 Dec 2011. We arrived back from Vilankulo, and it was such a pleasure to be able to chat to people in English again. Wayne, at First Car Rental Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo), let out his natural friendliness when I arrived singing "Tis the season to be jolly", and handled the reservation efficiently - that's what I like about First Car Rental - not only are they usually cheapest, but also friendly and efficient (something that I've found often comes with the terrain of smaller companies).
We found our Chev Aveo in bay 5 and Moses, also a friendly fella, was a big help in packing our luggage into our vehicle, getting hold of the child seats (one for an infant and a different booster seat for our toddler).
The Chev Aveo is not the cheapest in First Car's range (that honour belongs to the Chev Spark, which I've found often to be priced at R155/day), but is well worth the extra cash if there are 4 of you - we need the extra luggage space, and the Aveo drives well, it's got air conditioning and sensitive power steering.
We were in a rush for our 1time flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town, so just left the keys in the ignition at First Car Rental's depot at O.R. Tambo - we certainly recommend against doing this, but all turned out well :)
