UK flight disruptions |
5 Feb 2010 flights |
Due to adverse weather conditions (snow and ice) allow extra time to arrive at Heathrow Airport, and check with your airline to see the status of your flight before leaving for the airport for a UK flight (e.g. check here for British Airways). Also, be prepared for some delays. When this was written, check in was as normal for SAA flights SA235, SA237 and SA221.

We finish our cruise on the MSC Sinfonia in Durban on the 5th of Feb, so thought we'd look for a cheap return ticket to Cape Town. British Airways R2858 is their cheapest business class flight on the route since we start surveying (previous cheapest was R2863 in our 16 Oct 2009 flight survey). Interesting that the SAA flight price is exactly the same as the Mango price, but Kulula is cheapest overall (R699).

Jrobenalt didn't sleep at all on his one-way flight from Detroit to Cape Town via Amsterdam, with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. He'd purchased the one-way ticket, so that he could return whenever he wanted and from wherever he wanted. On landing in Cape Town he was informed by South African immigration that in order to be admitted into South Africa he would need to have a return ticket out of SA, and that if he did not have enough money to immediately purchase a return ticket he would be deported. The on-the-spot return ticket from KLM South Africa cost him R10,000 (much cheaper if you just buy in advance).
