Flights to the Durban for Heritage Day |
24 Sept 2014 flights |
South African Heritage Day, also known as Braai Day, takes place on the 24th of September 2014. On this day we are encouraged to celebrate our diverse cultures and traditions which makes South Africa so special. With festivities across the country varying from ancient battle re-enactments to braai parties, diversity is clearly encouraged.
Before 1995 Heritage Day was known as Shaka Day celebrating the Zulu hero and his legacy. King Shaka’s final resting place, Shaka Memorial, is a provincial heritage site in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Located near the site of his assasination; many choose to complete a pilgrimage from Durban to the monument in celebration of Heritage Day. Throw in a braai along the way in true South African style!
