The Zambian government is planning to launch a new airline, Fly Zambia, later in 2012 in a Public Private Partnership. The government plans to launch the airline in conjunction with a group of South African and Zambian aviation professionals.
Joel Chilufya, President of Fly Zambia, said: "We are just finalising documentation on joint ventures, funding and the licensing of the airline."
Fly Zambia is investigating the possibility of using the old logo of the now defunct Zambia Airlines (went into liquidation in 1995).
"We will start with four aircraft, two of which are Fokker 100 and the other two will be Fokker 50 including a cargo aircraft." said Theunis Crous, the CEO of Fly Zambia Airline Limited.
The airline plans on starting with local & regional routes including Zambabwe, Angola, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
