JOHANNESBURG – Airlink would like to confirm, on behalf of its Mozambican joint venture partner TTA (Sociedade de Transporte e Trabalho Aereo), that TTA’s scheduled service between Maputo and Johannesburg commenced successfully last Sunday 14 February 2010 as planned.
The service, which is operated by TTA and is marketed and sold by TTA Airlink, provides Mozambicans with convenient connections to regional and international long-haul flights which depart OR Tambo in the evenings, as well as satisfying the long sought after needs of the Johannesburg resident South African businessmen, who were looking for same day travel, to and from Maputo.
With flights departing OR Tambo at 06:25am and returning the same day at 18:00pm South African businessman will now be able to maximize their business visits to Maputo.
In the weeks ahead, TTA will add domestic services within Mozambique to its schedule, these will include services between Maputo, Beira, Tete and Nampula.

"Mozambican carrier TTA (Sociedade de Transporte e Trabalho Aereo) the second designated Mozambican carrier on the Maputo – Johannesburg route will commence scheduled air- services between these two cities on Sunday 14 February 2010.
TTA will operate the route with an Avro RJ85 ‘quadjet’ leased from Airlink, in a 14 Business and 69 Economy 83 seat configuration. TTA have employed 30 staff in Mozambique to operate the service which includes passenger services, check-in, baggage handling and cabin services.
Flights operate as follows:
Departing Maputo at 18h00 – arriving Johannesburg at 19h15: Monday to Friday and Sunday
Departing Johannesburg at 06h25 – arriving Maputo at 07h35: Monday to Saturday
Originating from Maputo on Sunday afternoons the aircraft will overnight in Johannesburg, returning early the next morning.
The TTA Airlink service will provide Mozambicans with convenient connections to the regional and international long-haul flights which depart OR Tambo in the evenings. TTA and Airlink have established a joint venture Mozambican company named TTA Airlink which under franchise from Airlink will market, sell and administer the service.
In the weeks ahead, TTA Airlink will also establish domestic services within Mozambique to Beira, Tete and Nampula which will then provide travelers the opportunity for onward connections to and from these important destinations within Mozambique.
