24 Apr 2009. Our 1time Johannesburg flight got off to a cracking start - there was no queue at the 1time check-in! Their check-in had been moved to Nationwide's ghost-spot at Cape Town International Airport - placing them right next to Kulula - I do hope that Nationwide used up all the bad luck on that spot.
Cape Town International Airport has changed the layout of its local departures terminal - there is now only one expanded check-in point on the southern end.
Today was our first flight where our little one got her own seat (once they are over 2 years, they have to have their own seat rather than simply sitting on your lap). We'd like to thank 1time for their levels of accommodation in keeping us comfortably next to each other, and attempting to keep the middle seat between us open over the last 2 years - they've done a fine job.
We were pleased to see more sharpness amongst ACSA's security control at Cape Town Airport. They quickly stopped any photograph taking at the security check-in, and when I tried to move too far away to take a photograph on the apron, the ground control staff called me back.
Check people's date of birth at check-in. If it's their birthday, wish them "happy birthday".
We were sitting near the back of the plane, and the engine noise sounded like a loud wachine machine going through its spin cycle...next time I must remember to pack on the earmuff. Whilst boarding from the back of the plane (where the engines are), I was sufficiently concerned about the noise, that I put my hands over our little one's ears to help prevent any damage.
We already thought 1time was ahead of Kulula in terms of the menu, and we were happy to see a couple of new additions to it - smoothies (e.g. passion fruit) & veggie burgers are now available (really warms the hearts of us vegeterians - 10/10 - one time!). The veggie-burger was a decent one, containing chickpeas & lentils in it (being vegeterian means a constant battle for protein).
