Climate of the Western Cape

The province can be divided into 3 climatic regions.

1. The area around thse Cape Peninsula and the Boland is a winter-rainfall region with sunny, dry summers (which leads to frequent fires).
2. Towards George, along the south coast, the climate gradually changes to year-round rainfall.
3. Inland, towards the more arid Great Karoo, the climate changes to summer rainfall.
