Fly/Hotel/Train trip to Cape Town

sky diningSky Dining

Wow, that’s probably the best way to start to tell you about Sky Dining. There is just something different about having a meal suspended 50m off the ground! Even though 50m doesn’t sound all that high, trust me once you’re up there your perspective changes.

From the start the people of Sky Events try make you feel special and comfortable, you have to walk down the red carpet to your seat, they help you in and make sure you are properly and safely strapped in, you wont be going anyway, does make reaching for things a little tricky, but rather safe than sorry! You also can’t help but check out what’s holding you up! You get a quick safety briefing, Then its time for lift off, you’re served your starter and with that, they start raising you up, it takes a little getting use to, and it’s a little unnerving for the first while, especially since they also spin you around so you can see the views from all sides. If you’re feeling even braver, you can even recline your chair and just lie back and take it all in, while awesome it is still a little unsettling. Looking down on everything, you realise how little we really are in the world and of course just how high up you are.

The food is amazing, we had the lunch menu. The views are spectacular, when the sky is clear you can see for miles. We had our sky dining experience at Silver Star Casino and which meant we even got treated to watching the casino’s water fountain display from the sky! One only imagine the dinner option would be magical with being able to see all the city lights at night. This is really a magical experience and I would totally recommend it for the brave, if you have height issues, it’s not for you, not even a little bit! It’s not a cheap experience at all but it’s something worth trying at least once! We had a total blast and hope to do the night dinner option at some point!
