N2 Express Service

MyCiTi's N2 Express service started operations on the 19th Feb 2022 with buses travelling on the N2 from the Cape Town city centre (Civic Centre station) to (and back, ie in both directions):

  • Khayelitsha (Kuyasa station); operated by Golden Arrow and Lisekhonikamva (Codeta)
  • Mitchells Plain (Kapteinsklip station);
  • Mitchells Plain Town Centre station

The Mitchells Plain buses are operated by Golden Arrow and Mitchells Plain Rapid Transit (Route Six).

On 20 Feb 2024 Cape Town's Mayoral Committee recommended that the N2 Express Service's contract be extended for 2 years to 30 Jun 2026.

Dial a Ride

MyCiTi's offers a Dial-a-Ride option which provides bus rides to those with special needs and disabilities. They have a fleet of 13 Dial-a-Ride buses each of which can fit up to 5 people on wheelchairs. On MyCiti's standard buses there are seats marked red which are reserved for the elderly and the disabled. From 18 March 2024 the Dial-a-Ride route between Cape Town and Atlantis is being discontinued; due to budget cuts and frequent cancellations on the route.

History, News & Info.

  • 16 Feb 2024. On its way from Khayelitsha (Kuyasa) to the city centre (Civic Centre Station), a MyCiTi bus bursts into flames on the N2 national road just before the Borcherd Quarry offramp.

  • 1 Dec 2010. MyCiti's airport service is suspended, due to lack of sufficient demand.

  • May 2010. MyCiti starts operations, shortly before and in anticipation of the Fifa 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
