SAA continues expanding into Africa - on the 26th Jan it commences flights between Johannesburg & Pointe Noire, Congo.
After taking off from Dar es Salaam bound for Johannesburg, Monday's SAA flight SA-189 struck a large bird (presumed to be a Hadada Ibis), which prompted the pilot to burn off fuel & return to Dar es Salaam, where the Airbus A319-100 landed safely.
