Velvet Sky airline has had its operating certificate temporarily suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority. Employees of Velvet Sky, take their grievances to the Labour Court, according to an internal memo The New Age has seen: "We have been lied to about payment for our salaries and we are going to file for liquidation of Velvet Key Airlines at the Labour Court as a means to get our (monies) out of them. We will not have to pay the attorney up front, but in the event of us winning the case, the attorney will take 10% of the payment. If they are liquidated, we will be the first ones to get paid before any other supplier." |

The Purple shall rule! "I am very unhappy with my recent Kulula/British Airways experiences. I made a booking via Kulula to fly to OR Tambo on the 6th March and back to Cape Town on 22 March. On both occations I experienced serious delays: On the 6th my Kulula flight was cancelled and I was rescheduled on a BA flight [6418?], that was delayed by an hour; so my initial time of flight was more than 2 hours later than originally planned. Then yesterday's nightmare! Again I was rescheduled from a Kulula flight [departure time 12h00] to a BA flight [6419] -departure time 14h00. We boarded 13h30 and then the 'nightmare' started. We were kept on board for 1.5 hours with minimal feedback. Then we had to disembark back to the terminal building; and then on board again by 16h20. Then the instructions followed; we were asked to close down all electronic equipment +- 16h30, etc. Then another 'waiting period' of about 20 minutes before we departed for Cape Town; where we landed 18h55! What a waste of my precious time. The R400 voucher I received for the inconvenience must be used within 3 months. It means nothing to me, since I have no intention to travel within 3 months. I also don't think I'll ever make use of Kulula/BA flights again!" Frieda |
