Car rental quotes

Here's the cheapest car rental quotes we did this week. Note that prices and availability could well have changed since we did these quotes. Navigate here to request a car rental quote.

Car rental from Cape Town

I'm looking for a cheap small type car with aircon and power steering  to rent from 16/12/2011 to 26/12/2011 in Cape Town.

Best I could find was a Toyota Yaris going for R3825.  Book at Car Trawler.

We need to hire a 9 seater from the 24th of December to the 29th of December. Pick up point will be Cape Town International and also Drop off there. Unlimited mileage please.

I suggest hiring a Volkswagen Caravelle for R9700. Book at Car Trawler.

I'm looking for a Kia Picanto to hire from 16.12.11 - 4.01.12  with aircon and powersteerig to hire in CT.

Best price for a Kia Picanto is R3896.    Book at Car Trawler.

Need an auto vehicle for 5 adults from the morning 6th Jan to 13 Jan. For use in Cape Town Pick up and drop off at airport.

Best price is R1085 (R155/day) for a Chev Spark, see First Car Rental

Need a car for 4 "big and tall people" with luggage from 20th January 2012 to 30th January 2012.  Unlimited mileage and super cover (no excesses).  Pick up and drop off at Cape Town Airport.

I wouldn't go for anything smaller than a Nissan Tiida, for unlimited mileage and zero excess this will cost you R2910 (R291/day).  Click here to book

Cheap vehicle rental from Polokwane

Looking for a best deal 5 seater vehicle from Polokwane to durban from 22 Dec-27 Dec.

I assume you're picking up in Polokwane and dropping the vehicle off in Durban.  The cheapest vehicle marketed as a 5-seater is a Toyota Yaris going for R1795, but unless you're midgets, I'd go for a Toyota Avanza for R2318.  Book at Car Trawler.

Car rental from Johannesburg

How much will it cost from 23Dec till the 02Jan cheapest available car.

You can hire a Chev Spark for R1550 (R155/day) from JNB Airport.

Please quote on your cheapest car, 5 seater from 27 December (JHB) to 30 December (KZN)

A Toyota Yaris is going for R1326, but unless the folk are small you'll struggle to fit 5 people in there!  You can get a Renault Megane for R1516, which would more reasonably fit 5 people in.   Book at Car Trawler.

Car rental from Port Elizabeth

I need a quote to hire a car from PE airport on 5 January 2012 and to be dropped off at East London airport on 17 January 2012.  I need something with boot space & to seat 5 people.  A boot space size like that of a Toyota Corolla would work.

How about a Nissan Tiida for R4702?  Book at Car Trawler.

Review of First Car Rental Johannesburg

We arrived back from Vilankulo, and it was such a pleasure to be able to chat to people in English again. Wayne, at First Car Rental Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo), let out his natural friendliness when I arrived singing "Tis the season to be jolly", and handled the reservation efficiently - that's what I like about First Car Rental - not only are they usually cheapest, but also friendly and efficient (something that I've found often comes with the terrain of smaller companies).

We found our Chev Aveo in bay 5 and Moses, also a friendly fella, was a big help in packing our luggage into our vehicle, getting hold of the child seats (one for an infant and a different booster seat for our toddler).

The Chev Aveo is not the cheapest in First Car's range (that honour belongs to the Chev Spark, which I've found often to be priced at R155/day), but is well worth the extra cash if there are 4 of you - we need the extra luggage space, and the Aveo drives well, it's got air conditioning and sensitive power steering.

First Car Rental in Johannesburg, O.R. Tambo International Airport

We were in a rush for our 1time flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town, so just left the keys in the ignition at First Car Rental's depot at O.R. Tambo - we certainly recommend against doing this, but all turned out well :)

London flight prices
Hopefully we'll be back to exploring London's magical streets soon! South Africa is currently on the UK's Red List, which means only British nationals are allowed to travel from South Africa to the UK and then they have to complete 10 days quarantine in a hotel. There are no direct flights connecting South Africa to the UK currently.

The Don Group have concluded an agreement with Cullinan Holdings, for the sale to Cullinan of its 56.66% stake in Ikapa Tours & Travels, effectively for R6m.

Ikapa are involved in the facilitation of flights, car rentals, accommodation & tours in SA, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and the Victoria Falls. As the Don are diversifying away from the hotel & leisure sector, it no longer makes sense for them to own Ikapa.

The Purple shall rule! There have been a couple of responses to Jennifer's complaint about 1time airline.

"We were scheduled to fly back from Cape Town at 2130 hrs. We checked out of our hotel room at 6 to be at airport in time to return our hired car and check in. To our dismay the flight had been postponed to 2230 hrs! I understand that emergencies do occur and is unavoidable at its best .....however what i do appreciate and look for in any professional engagement is being advised of such unexpected change in advance - even as an SMS ? Once we landed at the OR Tambo airport our baggages one of my bag was let out and the other took almost 20 minutes to be let out." Jennifer

"It saddens me to receive such feedback from passengers, and I’m sure this communiqué does not even begin to describe the inconvenience and frustration we caused you due to the delay. Disappointingly there are occasions when unforeseen circumstances prevent us from operating flights as scheduled, there are so many different reasons that a flight is delayed and it is just too complex to generalise. We take this moment to express regret for the lapse in service and the manner in which we portrayed our brand. It is definitely not the standard that we strive to accomplish and we regret your frustration on this occasion. We acknowledge that the delay you experienced caused you a great deal of frustration and loss and for that we offer our profuse apologies. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with our feedback." Candice

"I was reading a complaint of a Jennifer re 1time, behind delayed. I do fly weekly and the only airline that I will ever fly, is 1Time. Trust me, I have tried all the others. I normally fly PE to Cape Town and back. The personnel are so friendly, and all their pilots fly in such a way, with only one thing on their mind- and this is our (the passengers) safety, and our enjoyment. Even if they are delayed, it is worth the wait (in all the time that I do flying with them, they have not been delayed!). 1Time, thank for your excellent service." Barbara
