Emirates was the cheapest option I found - (1) with Air Emirates you can currently book a return flight from Johannesburg to London for R5459; (2) with South African Airways (SAA) it's R7,315; (3) with British Airways it cost R7,685, (4) with Virgin Atlantic Airways it's R8,155; (5) with Iberia Airline it's R10,317 for a return flight from Johannesburg to London via Madrid; (6) with KLM it's R10,685 for a return flight (prices do change over time). Air France's website was not working.

The reason for the trip is to see family and attend a siblings wedding in UK on 6 July 08. I have 2 weeks leave for the trip and ideally my wife and I would like to leave on a Friday/sat and return sat/sun so that we get full use of the weekends as well for the trip. we also were hoping to find a reasonable priced stop over flight that goes via a country like Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Dubai etc so that if possible, as we are going all that way, we have the possibility of spending week two in another country to the uk and thus have a short travel experience as a couple of another country which we have not yet seen. (we both have done the uk extensively). Our commitments are to be in uk by fri 4th to see family before the wedding and to spend at least 4 days in uk so as to see all and attend the wedding. thus our thoughts of leaving jhb on Fri./sat 27/28 June and spending week one in uk and weekend for wedding and then on return flight and stop over leg spending week two in other country before return home. At this point in time we have only just started tosave for the trip and budget looks limited. SO price will play a role in our decision. Also if you do have any reccomendations for accomodation (non uk as we will stay with family) for the country we will stop in please do share it with us - we are quite happy to do back packer style and are avid campers. What are our possible options and can you assist us?
