We asked stock analyst Keith McLachlan why Comair's Price Earnings ratio is only 6, and whether this was because the market fears FlySafair eating into Comair's profits - his answer was: "No, the low PE is more due to the lack of market confidence in the industry's sustainable profitability." We also asked another analyst, Simon Brown whether he thought Comair was worth buying and his answer was quite short: "An Airline? Never."

Rating 4.8 /5 : On the 8th of September I flew to Cape Town from Johannesburg (with Mango). As always I was extremely impressed with the services offered. Firstly, having the option of checking in online is just amazing, second, when I had to drop off my luggage the attendant was extremely friendly and also informed me that my boarding gate will probably change because I was quite early. This was really good, because I knew I needed to keep checking if the gate changes. Yes, it did change, but the change was announced more than three times and in a reasonable time before we needed to board. On the plane the air host and hostess were very friendly and professional. They were ready to assist you at any point during the flight. I was also very happy when I saw how they helped the lady in a wheelchair. This service is definitely noted. We arrived at the Cape Town Airport on time, as scheduled, and the luggage came through very quickly as well. Thank you Mango, and keep up the great service, it is highly Appreciated. Zuneirah

SAA Flight News: In a speech to parliament on Monday, the Minister of Public Enterprises fleshed out SAA's Long-Term Turnaround Strategy.
- They plan to create an entity called "SAA Group Holdings" which will be responsible for operating the individual airlines: Mango, SA Express and South African Airways.
- The Minister draws inspiration from Kenya, Ethiopia and the UAE where there are holistic state aviation policies revolving around: airports, airlines, visa requirements, traffic rights for foreign carriers and buying planes. The DPE is already busy formulating a "Fly South Africa Policy" similar to the "Fly America Act" which forces Government officials to use state-owned airlines.
- It seems South African Airways has asked for help with its decisions on whether to fly to Beijing & Mumbai, as stopping flying there would have "far-reaching diplomatic implications" given the objectives of the BRICS (Ed: India and China airlines don't fly to South Africa so why would there be diplomatic implications if South African Airways stopped flying there? Seems 1-sided).

Comair reports in their annual results that their net profit per passenger is R45, which they describe as "low":
- The new B737-800s are having a large saving in jet fuel compared to the Boeing 737-400s which they replaced.
- 1time airline's exit from the industry "helped to restore seat occupancy to prior year levels".
- The catering business which Comair started in March 2012 has been "very successful" (so sometimes outsourcing isn't the answer).
- Four new B737-800s are planned to be delivered in late 2015, with the possibility of further orders post 2018.
- There were diluted Earnings Per Share of 48c, which compares to a share price of R2.80
