International flight quotes

2011-11-23 Here's the best international flight quotes we did over the last week. Note that prices could well have changed since we did these quotes.

Johannesburg to Mumbai

I would like to book return flights for 2 adults to India, can you assist me with the bookings from 13/02/2012 – 24/02/2012

Please quote me for 7 economy tickets, Johannesburg - Dubai 25 Dec, Dubai - Durban 4 Jan.

The cost of direct flights is R89551 with Emirates. Book at http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-3925748-10471873 (choose “Multiple destinations”).

Best price is R12,206 for the 2 of you with Emirates.

I'm looking for the best price from jhb south africa to london for the 16th january 2012 and returing either on the22nd or 23rd of january 2012.

Best price I could find was R5793 (available for returning on the 22nd or 23rd) with Emirates. Click here to book

London to Cape Town flights

I've been given this email address by my mother in law who has travelled several times to South Africa before. My husband and I are planning a trip in January with our young family (1 and 3 years old). We would like to fly on or around 7 Jan returning no later than 29th Jan (arriving London 30th). We wish to fly direct from London to Cape Town and to return from Port Elizabeth to London via Cape Town or Johannesburg, whatever has availability and best timings etc.

I think the best way to do this is to book a return flight to Cape Town, and a 1-way flight from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town (I assume you’re driving the Cape Town to Port Elizabeth leg).

Cheapest is to leave London on the 8th January, and return from Cape Town on the 26th, this costs R24903 with Air France (leaves 19h35), see http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2374360-10810996

The cheapest from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town on the 26th is R1927 for the 4 of you at 15h20 with 1time, but I recommend rather taking the 09h50 flight with Kulula (R2502), so that you don’t have to stress about being late for your international flights.Click here to see your quote for this leg.

Mombasa to Johannesburg

Would like to travel from Mombasa to Johannesburg any time in December and return in January 2012. Which is the cheapest dates or special fares for return flight for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant

If you leave on the 1st December and return on the 27th January it's R16187 for the 4 of you with Ethiopian Airlines.  Click here to see your quote.

Should I wait for a Kulula special before I book?

The original intention was that this would cover international flights, but this was an interesting query, so thought I'd publish it as well.

Hi, want to book a flight from JHB- Durban on the 19th of March for 3 people. We are boarding the Sinfonia on that day. Would it be wise to wait for another special, before booking our flights. I am sure if I wait a month or so we could get a better rate?? Any advise for me please!!!

According to our records, the first Kulula flight special after 20 Nov 2010 was on 26 Jan 2011 (the Kulula Lobola special - cows for Kate - JNB-DUR flights were R379), so you could potentially have to wait until the end of January before you book, if your strategy is to wait for Kulula flight specials.   When I checked, you could book a flight with Velvet Sky for R343 each, leaving Johannesburg at 06h20.  I'm not sure that you would get cheaper than this, so I would book it now before prices change, and not wait for a month.  Having said that, I personally always fly the day before I cruise, so that I don't have to stress if something goes wrong at the airport.

Good to hear that the EU is now allowing TAAG Angolan Airlines to fly 2 B777-300s into Europe as a result of "further improvement".

Congratulations to Mr Hatla Ntene on being appointed non-executive director of The Don Group Limited.

The Purple shall rule! "On friday the 18/11/2011, I took the bus from Grahamstown to Midrand, I used the City to City bus at 16:35. The drivers were so arrogant and shouting, he was so bored by what I don't know. We took our luggage and where he wanted us to put it it was very full, and he opened another side when we put it he shouted like, 'i said put them there not here it's Pretoria who must put here, and we said it full and said go to that side and put it, bear in mind I'm lady with the big luggage I had to go to the other side and had to open & close it myself. I've never did that to open that luggage side in the bus. I fail to understand the need for two drivers if we must put our luggage in ourselves, and the way I was treated, I don't understand and couldn't believe it. I booked the bus because I wanted comfort, not what I got from City to City drivers & especially the guy who is fat and the Zulu speaking guy who is dark in complection.

On the other hand, the one from Midrand to Grahamstown on Sunday/20/11/2011 at 16:15, they were so friendly, those two guys the Sotho guy and the White old man, they were so respectful and treated us with respect, I felt like I wish those ones on Friday's bus could learn from these guys." Piwe

The Bottom Line: "An elementary requirement for the intelligent investor is an ability to resist the blandishments of salesmen offering new common stock issues during bull markets. Even if one or two can be found that can pass severe tests of quality and value, it is probably bad policy to get mixed up in this sort of business." Ben Graham in The Intelligent Investor
