A holiday can turn into a disaster if the accommodation is inferior. And as most establishments speak in superlatives, it's difficult to identify which are the quality spots to stay at.

Cruise news: From R7220 for 2 adults sharing a cabin on OP004, the 26 November cruise on the MSC Opera to Maputo & Inhambane. Compare prices to staying at a hotel (below) & it becomes clear what good value cruising is!

The Cape Grace

"Cote de Texas" did this lovely writeup of her visit to The Cape Grace Hotel, which is situated prominently on the V&A Waterfront.

  • "From each room there is a view of either the Table, the large mountain, the waterfront or the marinas"

  • "The yacht for private excursion is a much touted feature of the Cape Grace."

  • "Antique Cape furniture is featured throughout the Cape Grace."

  • "The bar is designed to look like a ship – and it truly does."

  • "A valuable Cape antique resides in the dining room, in front of another African Sketchbook mural.   Contemporary Louis Ghost chairs are mixed in with all the priceless antiques, keeping the decor from being too serious and stuffy.   Weixelbaumer, a popular Cape Town interior designer, is known for her busy and cluttered interiors.  She is not a minimalist, as the hotel shows! "

  • "The large main dining room is composed of several separate eating areas.   A mirrored ceiling reflects it all."

London flight prices
Experience London at its finest, when the parks are in bloom and the air cool. Spring is the perfect time to experience the city before the summer crowds arrive. Enjoy the gentle sun as you stroll through the city's big parks and duck into stylish shops when the rain comes pouring down. Its not only the weather that makes spring so attractive, flight prices are also fairly affordable throughout the months of April and May. Travellers planning a shopping spree should look carefully before booking though, as so many airlines are now excluding checked luggage.

We spotted an "operated by Cem Air" logo at the bottom of Fly Go-Air's website, which means they are probably leasing planes from them. Cem Air have a fleet of CRJ 100LR and Beech 1900 aircraft.

From 15 January 2013 Air Namibia is reducing the number of Saturday Cape Town - Windhoek flights and Johannesburg to Windhoek flights from 3 to 2.

The Purple shall rule! Reactions to 1time going under ranged from sadness at losing an airline to anger at losing money:

Louwrie: "This is such sad news.... my heart goes out to you 1Time.... You will stay a LEGEND in South African Aviation for all time!"

Kerry-lee: "Its an absolute disgrace that u took money from passengers knowing this would happen. I'm appalled! I just hope that my daughter's father can get his money back because if not, she will not be able to see him for Christmas! Disgusted!"
