Visiting Namibia
We're often so keen to holiday via international flights to Europe that we forget about visiting the gem on our doorstep - Namibia, which we could even drive to from the comfort of our own cars (border crossing details below). There's the desert lions in the north, the timelessness of the Fish River Canyon, the dunes at Sossusvlei, and then we have my favourite - Luderitz, near to which is Kolmanskop, the ghost town which is getting lost to the desert. To get a feel for the country it's worthwhile reading about Sebastian Modak's visit to Namibia.

At the Border (self drive):

Show your vehicle registration papers, or a letter of authorisation from the owner if the vehicle is not in your name.

Pay a cross border fee of approximately R220 (get a receipt).

Pay R140 for a trailer if you are travelling with one.

No firearms - if you're going hunting, you need to produce your license and a letter of invitation from the farmer on whose land you'll be hunting and your hunting rifle must be declared at the border.

Complaint - I have a walking disability and great was my disappointment recently that a shuttle service was nowhere to be found- no signs either to a bus stop; or any indication as to the operation of the shuttle service - is it pot luck if you happen to spot a golf cart and it stops for you?? ? I had to shuffle all the way from the parking to the terminal - NOT PLEASANT AT ALL!!!!
Please Lanseria look into this as you are my favourite airport for my flights to visit the children in Cape Town".
