[Note that since this article was written, Imperial Car Rental rebranded as Europcar on 1 Jun 2009]
Would you know, for the second survey in a row of Durban car rental prices, the Europcar/Imperial car rental site is down - and with the dominance of online booking, it must be costing them a lot of cake. This week has not been a good one for the Imperial Car Rental / Europcar alliance - first they had to quell a rumour that the group was setting up plans to dump the Imperial Car Rental brand in July 2009, and now it seems that their website is struggling.
Prices are pretty much the same as when we last surveyed car rentals at Durban International Airport, and the same sites are down as last time! The only change is that Thrifty Car Rental has brought their price down (!) to R442 for the weekend. Avis Car Rental is still cheapest.

In one of the most comprehensive blog posting we have ever seen, Sebastian Modak tells of his holiday in Namibia. He caught a bus from Gaborone to Windhoek, where he stayed at the Chameleon Backpacker's Lodge. After Budget Rent a Car figured out that actually they don't have any automatics, they moved onto plan B and caught an Econolux bus from Windhoek to Swakopmund and rejoiced at seeing the ocean. Swakopmund's architecture reminds him of a (pretty) Lego Set! Thanks Sebastian for this great posting, you're a worthy winner of our blog of the week.
