Comet Car Rental
Comet Car Rental have a unique value proposition in the South African car rental market - there's no need to hike all the way to the car rental agencies at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport and then wait in queues - Comet will meet you at the closer drop-off zone, where you'll fill in the paperwork at your car (meaning they save on not having to pay expensive rentals at the airport). When you drop off the hired car, you merely park in the normal parking garage at the airport, lock the keys and the parking ticket in the boot, and phone Comet Car Rental with the number of your parking bay (011-974-9618 in Johannesburg).

Our trip
On the 14th September 2009 we used Comet Car Hire's services and everything ran smoothly. After our 1time flight to Johannesburg, we did a short walk to the drop-off-and-go outside domestic arrivals and met Comet Car Hire staff there. What a pleasure not having to stand in queues and not having to walk far. We filled in some forms on top of the car and hopped into our Opel Corsa. We thought the vehicle didn't have air conditioning (and found out after the trip it in fact does!), so drove with the window open to keep cool.
On to the North-West Province
We drove the Corsa first to Bakubung Bush Lodge, then onwards to the Sun City Resort (see photo below at the Sun City Hotel) and then the Hartbeespoort Dam.
Returning the vehicle to Johannesburg Airport
Returning the vehicle at Johannesburg Airport was easy - we just stopped the car at the public parking garage, locked the keys and parking ticket in the boot, and gave Comet Car Hire a call to let them know. Much thanks to Cathy at Comet Car Rental for offering us the opportunity to review their services. It is really enjoyable reviewing a unique service which we can thoroughly recommend to our readers.
