King Shaka Airport (Durban)
All Durban flights have been to and from King Shak International Airport, since the 1st of May 2010. Before then, flights were to Durban International airport, which was situated to the south of the city. King Shaka is to the north of Durban's city, in the Umdloti area:
- 40 km north of Durban's city centre
- 144 km south of Richards Bay
- 204 km from Ulundi
- 60 km from Amanzimtoti
- 167 km from Margate
Airlines operating at the airport are BA Comair, Kulula Air, Mango Airlines, SA Airlink SA Express, South African Airways, Emirates Airlines and Air Mauritius.

2014-11-10 New Luxury Lounge at King Shaka International: Durban's International Airport just became a lot more attractive for travellers with the opening of a brand new luxury lounge, the Umphafa VIP lounge. Lounge operator Menzies Aviation say that the new lounge trumps any other lounge currently available in South Africa and is on par with other international luxury lounge standards.

2013-06-05 King Shaka Protects Environment: Colin Naidoo, the spokesman for King Shaka Airport, says that "Since the airport become operational, we have sought to uphold and exemplify Airports Company South Africa's sound environmental management framework, which is in line with global benchmarks. The airport has adopted and implemented several innovative initiatives across all key areas, with the overarching objective being to ensure that, as one of SA's 3 busiest [airports] with annual passenger traffic of between five and six million, its operations do not negatively impact on the communities around it." King Shaka was the first airport in the world to link the control tower to a bird radar system to reduce bird strikes - strikes against barn swallows have fallen from 10 in 2010 to none in April 2013.
