King Shaka Airport (Durban)

All Durban flights have been to and from King Shak International Airport, since the 1st of May 2010. Before then, flights were to Durban International airport, which was situated to the south of the city. King Shaka is to the north of Durban's city, in the Umdloti area:

King Shaka was the first airport in the world to link the control tower to a bird radar system to reduce bird strikes - strikes against barn swallows have fallen from 10 in 2010 to none in April 2013.
