Flight prices screaming up |
SouthAfrica.TO survey |
In today's survey flight prices are very high, with all airlines charging over a thousand rand for a flight from Cape Town to Durban. Other than high fuel prices, there is no reason why flight prices should be so high - the 29th August is not the start of a long weekend or school holidays. This is the first time since our 24 Nov 2007 flight survey, that all airlines have quoted over a thousand rand on the CPT-DUR route.

In the face of some bad publicity from its accidents, SA Roadlink seem to have lost their pricing power and continue to offer the cheapest coach prices (R350 from Cape Town to Durban).

Stella finally makes it to Cape Town (after travelling from Minneapolis to New York, New York to Johannesburg, Johannesburg to Cape Town). She seems to be enjoying it in the Mother City, but has to get used to jailing herself into her house! Below is the view from the house she's staying in in Cape Town.

The Temple Bar is not not happy about how Ryanair's staff go on in an interview about how great their company is: "You have to respect the way in which Ryanair staff have no problem acting like a trained advertisement monkey every time they get to speak about the company, but god I could never imagine myself screaming about how much my company is better than competitors, especially if I was on a news program listened to by a huge number of people across the country. It would frankly be embarrassing. I suspect that they (Ryanair Staff) need to shower, ala Crying Game, after each ultimately whoring experience endured at the bequest of their CEO."
