Cape Town & Durban school holidays |
Time to finalise those travel plans for the Cape Town & Durban school holidays, as flight prices are already high and are climbing! If you want to keep at the coast (and away from the xenophobia in Gauteng), Mango Airlines is currently offering the cheapest flight from Durban to Cape Town (if you can call a one-way flight costing over R1000 cheap).

As usual Road Lodge is cheapest (but who wants to stay at the airport). The price of a night at the Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge has come down slightly, as has the price of a night at the Southern Sun V&A Waterfront.
Last week I wrote about Emy's trip on the Baz Bus from Cape Town to Umzumbe. I'm a fan of her blog as she posts tons of photos, so this week I'm linking to her trip to Kirstenbosch gardens in Cape Town. Instead of taking the Baz Bus there she took the "Boogie Bus" (actually the first time I've heard of it) to Kirstenbosch where she watched a South African band playing (The Rudimentals...another thing I'd never heard of!).
"While the Irish obsessed over O'Leary's money, American investors were unconcerned. 'It wasn't hard to defend in the US at all,' says one source close to the float. 'It's like the anecdote where an Irish guy and an American guy walk down the street and they see this guy's huge house up on the hill. The American guy goes, 'Some day I'm going to get that house,' and the Irish guy goes, 'Some day I'm going to get that f$%k*r.'" Extract from Michael O'Leary's biography by Alan Ruddock, "A Life in Full Flight: The story of the man who made Ryanair take off".
