Hosea Kutako Airport's Grading Restored

12 August 2014 : The Hosea Kutako Airport in Windhoek was downgraded two weeks ago after their firefighting equipment was seen to be below standard. The airport failed to meet international ICAO standards on maintenance and fire and it also failed to meet airport runway upkeep standards. They have now been upgraded back from Category 5 to Category 9.

Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International Airport

Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International Airport (IATA code WDH) was built in 1964, and is located 42km outside of the city. Domestic Namibian airlines mostly use Windhoek's Eros Airport. There are no public buses running to the international airport.

After you've booked your cheap flights to Windhoek, it's time to focus on car hire (the mode of transport chosen by most). Europcar & Avis offer cars for hire at Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport - so play the same game you did with the airlines, and compare their prices.

People would be well-advised to book a (private) airport shuttle in advance if they are not renting a car. Try Omahuka Transfers, but there are a number of companies who offer airport shuttles.
