"A fairy tale city" by Yolanda

"I sat back in my seat looking out through my window anxiously waiting to see the mountains my sister had told me about. Slowly the plane started turning and my eyes were greeted with the most amazing view I had ever seen. As far as I could see were the magnificent Alps that seemed to be lined with gold as the morning sun reflected on the snow capped tips. My heart leaped with excitement as the captain announced that we would soon be landing.

As the plane descended my mind raced back to my favourite childhood fairytale, Heidi, for this little city called Innsbruck, nestled in one of the valleys of the Austrian Alps resembled the perfect picture beauty that I once fondly admired. The mountain tops covered with snow and as you go lower toward the valley it became greener and ended in a carpet of yellow flowers up to the boarders of the city.

Along the city flows the Inn River after which the City was named. There is an array of picturesque buildings along the river which depicts the character and history of this little town. If you want to see the many historical is treasures of the city, there are horse and cart tours that will take you around.

For a breathtaking aerial view of the city there is a cable car that stops at heights of 300, 1600 and 1900m and at each stop there are traditional restaurants and gift shops. This mountain has numerous trails for hiking and mountain biking in summer and is used for skiing between December and March.

This Alpine gem is 25 minutes away from Germany which lies in the north, 30 minutes away from Italy which lies to the south and One hour from Switzerland which lies to the west. There are many castles and churches that are worth seeing and 15 minutes east is the headquarters and showroom of the famous Schwarovski Crystals. For anyone who wants to experience the true European Alpine atmosphere, this is definitely the place to see."
