Our readers are our explorers & writers. Email us a write-up of your flight from Jozi to Cotonou, and we'll send you a travel voucher (it's a win-win, you get cheaper flights & we get great content). Longer writeups & those that include photos get more travel vouchers.

Cotonou is situated on Benin's southern coast & is the economic centre of the country. Cotonou also has the country's best shops, nighclubs, hotels and of course the Grand Marche du Dantokpa (a vibey market).

We recommend staying at the Maison Rouge Hotel, it's fairly close to the airport & situated in the CEN-san compound (built by Libya, and known by locals as "La Maison Qaddafi"). Enjoy ocean views whlilst you sip a drink at their bar. Treat yourself to a room with a sea view. You'll enjoy the large pool, especially if you're a swimmer.
