Book flights to Copacabana with LATAM, one of the largest airline groups in Latin America. With over 300 aircraft and and a route network that includes 143 destinations around the world, you can now book direct flights to Brazil and beyond.
LATAM offers direct flights between Johannesburg and Sao Paulo. From 1 August 2019 this route will be serviced by their Airbus A350.
The airline also operates a large route network in South America, making them many South African's first choice when it comes to booking flights to Brazil and the rest of South America.
LATAM announced that flights between Johannesburg and Sao Paulo will resume again in July 2023. This will allow South African travellers direct connection to South America, the first time since COVID.
Effective from the 27th of February 2020 the airline will introduce branded fares, of which most won't include free checked luggage. Promo and light fares will not include checked baggage allowance. Plus fares will only include one piece of checked luggage. All tickets issued prior to the 27th of February will still enjoy the two-piece policy.
The airline will introduce a new premium business class service and seat on 200 of their aircraft. This new configuration will feature full flat beds, an adjustable divider for more privacy, more space and both a plug socket and a USB charge point.
In Economy Class experience their new gourmet menu, featuring a selection of local and vegetarian dishes. This is available on flights to and from Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru.
Economy Class passengers can enjoy a main dish during breakfast and two entree and dessert options for lunch or dinner. Main dishes are either hot or cold, depending on the technical capabilities of the airplane.
Economy class passengers can enjoy a free coffee with a muffin, sandwich and various other snack and beverage options.
Passengers travelling within Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are travelling domestically with LATAM and have to purchase their onboard food and drink. They only accept cash (local currency) and credit card (Visa and Mastercard) payments.
Premium Economy and Business Class food services also differ according to your travel time and routing.
LATAM offers both international and domestic flights with and without included checked luggage, so check with your travel agent or on your airline ticket whether checked baggage is included. Adding a checked bag (23kg) starts from a 100 dollars on international routes.
LATAM has both online check-in services as well as check-in desks at the airports.
The mobile app allows passengers to select their seats, download their boarding pass and get updates on flights.
LATAM is based in Sao Paulo and besides their direct flights between Johannesburg and Sao Paulo, they also offer connecting flights to the following destinations.

They offer three classes on transatlantic flights. On flights between Johannesburg to Sao Paulo, passengers can choose between Economy Class and Business Class seats.
