Turkish Airlines Launches Direct Cape Town Flights

Capetonians should be over the moon with Turkish Airlines' new direct Cape Town flights! The airline announced today that they will operate year-round direct flights between Cape Town and Istanbul from the 30th of October 2016.

Turkish Airlines also offers connecting flights from Istanbul to Europe and beyond. This is a great alternative to travelling via the Middle East as Istanbul is only an 11 hour flight from Cape Town and a short flight to most European destinations. Previously Turkish Airlines offered flights from Cape Town with a technical stop in Johannesburg, totalling 13 hours in travel time.

The new daily flights will leave Cape Town (TK 45) at 18h00 in the evening and arrive in Istanbul at 04h50 (local times). Return flights from Istanbul (TK 44) will depart at 01h40 and arrive back in Cape Town at 11h55. From the 26th of March 2017 the return flight (TK 44) will depart Istanbul an hour earlier, at 17h05, to accommodate the change of the seasons and daylight savings.

"We flew Turkish Airlines to Beijing via Istanbul. What was fantastic was the fact that the airline offered a free day’s outing in Istanbul which included a guide, lunch and transport. We were told where to meet the guide and had a great day seeing all the sights. The food on the flight was good and the ticket price was extremely competitive. The website in particular was helpful and user friendly. We also received packs on board the flight which contained the usual toothbrush and socks but what was different was the fact that the pack was contained in what we used to use as metal pencil boxes at school. I am still using the box now to keep my pens in at work and it is a great and practical reminder of the trip."??
