Why Woodford eliminated its "1-way" fee on car rentals to Cape Town

As we enter Uptober, Woodford car hire have announced the elimination of the one-way fee for car rentals to Cape Town! You can now rent a vehicle for pick up in Johannesburg, drive it to Cape Town and drop it off there without paying the one-way journey fee of R1,500.
NB: Pro note: at the end of Woodford's communication it says "Terms and Conditions Apply, selected vehicles qualify".
What is a 1-way fee?
Car rental agencies typically charge a 1-way fee if you plan to drop off the vehicle at a different location to where you pick up the vehicle; to compensate them for the hassle of having to avoid build-up of vehicles where they're not needed.
Why would Woodford eliminate the fee?
Now where cars are needed in summer is Cape Town; often at high season in Cape Town there are simply no more cars left to rent out (which means no more profit for car rental agencies). So, Woodford have cannily incentivised (or at least removed the negative incentive) their customers to drive their fleet to Cape Town for them; where it is needed in the summer. The "selected vehicles qualify" probably means that if the shortage isn't in Cape Town anymore for a certain vehicle, it will stop qualifying (I didn't check with them).
It will be interesting to see if this fee returns come autumn 2025.
How will Woodford drivers get back home from Cape Town?
The best way is on a Cape Town to Pretoria Rovos Rail luxury train trip (or Blue Train); otherwise a flight or Intercape bus. Otherwise, don't return, buy a property in Cape Town and semigrate.
