To help you have a more enjoyable trip, I have a few suggestions that may assist you along the way. Having graduated from a backpacker to a business traveller I have come to enjoy the small luxuries along the way. You don't need a million air-miles (although the experience may come in handy!). (1)
Get yourself a good Valet parking company. You will feel like a VIP being greeted at the Drop-n-Go and it saves you precious time. This is a cheaper option than Aiport parking and at around R70 a day you usually come back to a shiny clean car as part of the deal. (2)
For those still waiting in lines to check in, why not opt for the online checkin and leisurely stroll through to security. Again some great time saving. (3)
Then, take the time to enjoy a great shoe-polish. You'll feel like a million bucks stepping into the boardroom and it is amazing how relaxing those few minutes can be in such a rushed environment. (only 20 bucks!) (4)
Next, skip the metal chairs and make your way to the lounge for a complimentary coffee, croissant and newspaper. No lounge access? Check your bank's website to see what package includes this and ask them to upgrade you (even if you're below the income bracket, they have some leniency here). (5)
Finally, sit back (sipping your coffee) and watch the poor uninformed travelers scrambling frantically to make it through in time before playing musical chairs." Ette
