HOT AIR BALLOONING

Success at last! In response to numerous requests from readers, in May 2011 we started an appeal for Mango to fly to Port Elizabeth.

Cruise news: A hearty welcome to the MSC Opera, which arrives in Cape Town this morning.

Mango Port Elizabeth flights

We are delighted to report that Mango Airlines will be flying to Port Elizabeth from the 5th December 2012. It'll be flying to PE from both Cape Town and Johannesburg. At first there'll be a single daily return flight.

Mr Nico Bezuidenhout, Chief Executive Officer of Mango said that “There is a requirement for a low cost carrier on the Johannesburg - Port Elizabeth and Cape Town - Port Elizabeth route and with the recent exit of capacity Mango has brought forward its plans by a few months in order to accommodate market demand.”

On selected flights with limited availability, there's an initial Mango special of R699* between CPT and PLZ (1-way) and R599* between JNB & PLZ (1-way). Wont last long. *Check if prices are still available at Mango. Terms & conditions apply. Sale starts at 10h00 on Tuesday the 20th November, running until 21h00 on the 21st November (or until flights sell out, whichever happens first).

Did you know that the Johannesburg to Atlanta flights by Delta are the 2nd longest non-stops in the world (after Sydney to Dallas).

The Purple shall rule! Observation by Lize on her Johannesburg - Atlanta trip: "A seventeen hour flight is made considerably better by a half empty plane.  Especially to steal beautiful bananas in the middle of the long long night."
