We have not reported on a flight special from SAA for local routes in a while, so today we surveyed one-way prices on each day in September 2012.
Cruise news: The Xmas & New Years cruise specials are over. Until Friday, you can still get bubbly on balcony cabins.
SAA September Flight Prices
17 July 2012
So don't take this to be an SAA special, it's just a snapshot of the cheapest one-way flight prices we could find on each day, which have probably changed by now. Make a reservation online at SAA's website, but first compare flight prices. Prices will change (perhaps even by the time you receive this).
Congratulations are due to SAA & Airlink - over the first half of 2012, Airlink was the most on-time airline at O.R. Tambo & Cape Town International Airports, whilst SAA was the most on-time at King Shaka International Airport.
According to a statement by the Minister of Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, tourist arrivals to South Africa grew by 10.5% in the first quarter of 2012, with arrivals from Europe growing by 11.9% and from Germany growing by 15.2% (they're no longer as keen on those Greek holidays, with many Greeks blaming them for their woes). "The 2013 African Cup of Nations early next year offers South Africa a valuable opportunity to drive tourist arrivals growth from Africa even further and to give regional African tourists an exceptional experience while they are here ... the
kind of experience that makes them want to return to South Africa as well as recommend our destination, our warm hospitality and our capability to friends, family and colleagues back home," said the Minister.
The Purple shall rule! Just to say to Kim Narby (see Purple shall rule section of yesterday's Balcony Cabin Cruise special newsletter): "Welcome to The Warmest place in South Africa. We enjoy our lovely winters. In fact I enjoy the whole year round in Durban - even the humidity in Dec - to Feb. Hope you have a wonderful holiday". Bets

The Bottom Line: After cancelling its direct Cape Town to London flights, it's been reported that South African Airways has sold its Heathrow landing slot (these are quite valuable).
