It might not be what the doctor recommends, but Mango are giving away a Samsung Tablet 10.1 a day, selecting the lucky winner from passengers who fly and use their G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi Service on the Lanseria - Cape Town route (& tweet creatively from altitude including the handles @flymangosa @g_connect as well as the tag #gconnect with a sentence starting with "From 30,000 feet"). This promotion is valid for selected flights on this route between up to the 10th of July 2012.

Competition Terms and Conditions

1. The competition is open to passengers travelling on the Mango Commissioned Aircraft between Lanseria and Cape Town using the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi service between 20 June 2012 and 10 July 2012;

2. Winners will be drawn daily based on the most creative insert as prescribed in (9), made from inside the Mango cabin, at altitude, using the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi service.

3. Each winner will receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1;

4. This Competition will not apply when the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi is not available on the Mango flights, specifically on the 24th of June 2012.

5. The competition starts at 05:00 am on 20 June 2012 and closes at 23:30 pm on 10 July 2012.

6. One (1) winner will be announced daily during this period (24 June 2012 excluded) and therefore ten (10) winners during the course of the competition.

7. The winners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be notified telephonically as well as on the Facebook and Twitter Pages of G-Connect, Mango and other relevant parties;

8. Prizes will be delivered by courier during the month of July.

9. For an entry to be eligible, submitted posts must include the following: • Hashtag must be: #GConnect; • Sentence must start with “From 30000ft”; • @G_Connect @FlyMangoSA handles must be used in tweet. 11. Additional to the abovementioned competition, Samsung sponsor give away ten (10) G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi vouchers per flight with a denomination of fifty rand (R50.00) - One Way pass;

12. Mango’s cabin crew will hand out customer survey questionnaires where ten (10) random passengers will be selected as the winners for the vouchers.

13. Winners are required to fill the questionnaire in and provide back to cabin staff.

14. Winners of the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi vouchers will be announced just after takeoff on each flight. General

15. A passenger can only win once during the course of the competition;

16. Mango and G-Connect reserve the right to substitute prizes, for any reason, to the same value of the original prize offered.

17. Due to the subjective nature of the competition, the judges names are available by request. The judges’ decision are however final.

18. Judges reserve the right to consider or discard any entry based on the sole subjective criteria of creativity in a tweet from altitude.

19. Mango and G-Connect reserve the right to verify all entries against entry conditions.

20. Mango will validate that the winner was indeed booked on a Mango flight;

21. G-Connect’s standard Terms and Conditions, Mango's standard terms and conditions of carriage, South African Civil Aviation law and Captain's discretion applies at all times.

22. Only passengers travelling on G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi enabled aircraft are able to enter the competition.

23. Mango does not guarantee that any flight operated during this promotional period would offer the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi service and/or warrant the availability of the service.

24. Persons making use of the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi service do so entirely at their own volition and Mango, G-Connect and Vodacom cannot be held responsible for device compatibility, device stability or any other reason including user incapacity.

25. Mango or G-Connect reserves the right to disqualify any individual for suspicion of fraudulent activities and/or as per its sole discretion;

26. The prize will not be transferable for money;

27. The competition and prize will only be available to participants residing in South Africa;

28. Mango, G-Connect and/or Samsung employees, vendors, partners and suppliers and/or their family members will not be eligible to win the prizes;

29. Mango Airlines or G-Connect may reasonably amend these Competition rules as per its sole discretion.

Lanseria - Cape Town Hot Deal

When I checked just before sending this off, there was still some aavailability for Mango Airlines' Hot Deal on flights between Lanseria and Cape Town for only R699 (including taxes). Fares are for a one-way flights. This special only applies to bookings made on the Mango website, and prices will change (perhaps even by the time you read this).

The only thing cheaper is to travel overland, but at least with Mango you get there (a LOT) quicker:

1. You need to make your booking in June 2012;

2. The price is not available on every day of the week;

An official study at London's Gatwick Airport has found that "although the majority of searches involved men, women were significantly more likely to be subject to a strip-search than men if a search were undertaken".

Note that once a hire car has been returned, although the car rental agency will typically release their "hold" on the credit card within 24 to 48 hours, it can take up to 4 working days for the "hold" to be lifted due to actions required at the bank (thanks Bryan for informing us of this).
