The latest email scam - don't fall for it "Apologies for having to reach out to you like this. I made a quick
trip to Barcelona Spain and had my luggage stolen from me with my
passport and credit card in it.
The embassy has cooperated by issuing a temporary passport, I just
have to pay for a ticket and settle the Hotel bills. With my wallet
stolen, I've made contact with my bank but the best they could do was
suggest to send me a new card in the mail which will take 3-5 working
days to arrive here .
I was hoping you could loan me some Money to sort things out and I
will definitely pay back once I get this over with.Apparently Western
Union or MoneyGram seem to be the fastest and safest way to make the

Shosholoza Meyl trains depart every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth (there is very little availability in December, other than on the sitter class - R230 per adult, one-way).

I travelled from Durban to Johannesburg earlier this year and agree that the coaches are extremely run down and can do with a good scrub all over. The heaters were not working and being winter it made the conditions in the coach very uncomfortable. The train was very late pulling into Johannesburg, nearly causing me to miss my Greyhound bus connection to Kimberley. Having travelled in the heydays of train travel in South Africa, I was also aware that trains are notorious for delays and late arrivals, so had set my mind to this being a possibility. Also,not knowing what to expect, I had not planned on eating on the train and had made arrangements to provide my own food. The train manager was helpful and I experienced no noise from other passengers. Saying this I travelled on a Wednesday. The platform and departure conditions at Durban station were also not up to standard. I have travelled via Greyhound coaches from Durban to Bloemfontein and been a couple of hours late and also from Johannesburg to Kimberley by Greyhound and been one and half hours late. Overall though, with the conditions and roadworks in our country at the moment, I still find train travel far more relaxing. Shosholoza Meyl, now is your time to come on board and claim back the travel market. It certainly will make a big differences if the coaches were overhauled." June
