HOT AIR BALLOONING

"Due to recent irregular activity around this payment method", Mango Airlines have decided to temporarily not allow bookings for flights where Edcon (Edgars, Jet) account cards are tendered as payment and where the cardholder is not travelling with the party.

Cruise news: “Even though the rand has depreciated in value by as much as 18% in the past year against the US dollar and other foreign currencies, MSC Starlight Cruises can now guarantee that SA rand fares published in the brochure will not be increased."

Seems like Fridays are the days for announcing international flight specials. Last week we announced the Emirates Europe sale, and this Friday we heard of an SAA flight special.

SAA 96 hour summer sale

Those wanting to book international flights should note that South African Airways are promising to run a 96 hour summer holiday sale next week. To put it in their words, "from the 18th to the 21st October, you can book your seat to 18 of your favourite African and International destinations at massively discounted prices."

You'll need to check details at SAA, but remember to cross-check prices with other airlines (and with Velvet Sky for local flights).

SAA Voyager news

SAA Voyager are running a double Miles promotion for the newly launched Johannesburg - Ndola (Zambia) route, when flying to or from Ndola between 2 October and 31 December 2011.

Save your Miles from expiring on 31 March 2012, fly 5 000 SAA Tier Miles, spend R60 000 on your Voyager credit card or fly 3 000 SA Express Tier Miles before 31 December 2011.

Rent with Avis between 1 October 2011 and 31 December 2011 and earn 500 Voyager Miles for weekend rentals on qualifying rates. You must book an Avis weekend car rental through SAA, and you can stand a chance to win 1 of 5 Macbook Air notebooks.

With Christmas looming, why not get into the spirit of the season by donating some of your SAA Voyager Miles to the Reach For A Dream foundation.

The Purple shall rule! "Why is it not possible to have a (Velvet Sky) flight from George to Durban and return. Maybe just twice a week to begin. There are so many passengers that have to fly via johannesburg to get to Durban. The only (airline) that flies is Airlink and it costs as much as a flight to London."

The Bottom Line: "To invest intelligently in securities one should be forearmed with an adequate knowledge of how the various types of bonds and stocks have actually behaved under varying conditions - some of which, at least, one is likely to meet again in one's own experience."
