Average flight prices are screaming up - to give you an idea, Kulula is cheapest from Cape Town to Durban at R1049! If you've got more time on your hands (and are willing to risk it), you can take an SA Roadlink coach from CPT to DUR for R350.

Kulula are back and cheapest, on the Johannesburg to Cape Town flight route. First Car Rental offered the cheapest car rentals, SA Roadlink the cheapest bus trip and Road Lodge the cheapest night's accommodation in Cape Town. Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town are also offering a cheap night's accommodation (by their standards - R798).

Interlink Airlines cheapest again - this time from Joburg to Durban. In other news the Suncoast Hotel & Towers set a record for the most expensive night at a hotel in Durban we have yet recorded (R1302). For the very first time, we include Spoornet's Shosholoza Meyl in our survey, and they are charging R140 for a train trip from Joburg to Durban.

Thank God for Mango - by far the cheapest from Cape Town to Durban (other than coaches, where City to City is cheapest). Avis South Africa offers the cheapest car rental at Durban International Airport. Protea Hotel Edward has drastically dropped its hotel prices, but Road Lodge is still by far the cheapest.

Once again, cheapest is Mango Airlines (we looked at Johannesburg-Durban flights). For the first time in our surveys Tempest Car Hire is not cheapest - this honour belongs to Avis South Africa. Protea Hotel Edward has seen a steep increase in the prices of its rooms.

We surveyed flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and Mango Airlines were cheapest. For the first time the Intercape coachline offered the cheapest coach trip, and as usual Tempest Car Hire offered the cheapest car rental and the Road Lodge the cheapest accommodation.

British Airways is a new South African low cost carrier - they've been cheapest in 3 out of our last 5 surveys. Prices of bus trips have gone up as have car rentals (slightly) but hotel accommodation is down (16th May is a good time to book a night in Cape Town).

We studied flight prices from Cape Town to Durban on the 25th April and it's not a good time to fly. If you're going to fly then Mango Airway offered the cheapest flight (and it was even cheaper if you used the promotion code - PNMSO1). A couple of other turnups for the books - the Holiday Inn Garden Court South Beach offered the cheapest night's accommodation in Durban (usually it's Road Lodge) and City to City offered the cheapest bus trip from Cape Town to Durban (SA Roadlink normally features). In a more typical result, Tempest Car Hire are still offering the cheapest car rentals.

British Airways are smoking! Not only do they offer the most comfortable flight in South Africa, but now (again) the cheapest (even cheaper than Mango or Kulula). Well done, it's a no-brainer which airline to fly with. There's a 3-way tie for the cheapest bus trip from Cape Town to Durban between Citiliner, City to City and SA Roadlink. In other news, the French President wins 100 cents in a court battle against Ryanair, and Emirates chooses Cape Town as its 100th destination, opening up loads of new opportunities for Capetonians wanting to travel abroad. Tempest car hire is offering the cheapest car rentals from Durban International Airport.

Comparison of flights from Cape Town to Johannesburg - Nationwide comes out cheapest...again in our weekly cheap flights survey - since discarding its free meals in economy class earlier this year, Nationwide seem to be settling into the role of no frills airliner.

Kulula and 1time are joint cheapest! For the first time ever in SouthAfrica.TO's cheap flights survey there is a tie! Meanwhile Mango Airlines (quietly) stopped its Bloemfontein-Durban flights and (loudly) increased the number of flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Frequent flyer award goes to Charles Nqakula who, in a South African first, flew to Britain to try convince them he's doing his job.
