Day 1: Johannesburg to Numbi Gate (Kruger National Park) – Pretoriuskop Rest Camp

After arrival at Johannesburg airport, you have cleared immigration; pick up your luggage found your way through customs, I will be collecting you. We will go back to my place where you can take a shower and we will drive to the Numbi Gate, and it's time to spot wild animals.

The roads are in excellent condition and you'll encounter all kinds of different animals during your drive. Stop at one of the many camps or rest stops along the way to stretch out for a bit. Drive over paved and unpaved roads towards Pretoriuskop Rest camp. This is where you'll set up your roof tent on top of your Land Rover and spend the night with the sounds of the animals sending you off into a deep and dreamy sleep.

Total distance on Day 1 is approximately 358 km.

Day 2: Pretoriuskop Rest camp - North to Letaba Rest Camp

Now you’re in the middle of your Kruger itinerary. Wake up early to make the most of today; we’ll be travelling north towards Letaba Rest Camp enjoying the ever changing scenery in your Landy. You'll be driving over unpaved roads to your next accommodation: a small farm located in the middle of the bush.

You shouldn't have any problem spotting animals; the Kruger is known for the large number of animals roaming the land.

Total distance on Day 2 is approximately 246 km.

Day 3: Letaba Rest Camp through Messina - Esigodini (Zimbabwe – Falcon College)

We have purposely camped close to the Zimbabwean border, getting there early is a definite must. The Beitbridge border crossing is one of Africa’s busiest! After the border, the drive is relatively relaxing, we will be headed towards Falcon college, a private boarding school for boys, set in Matabeleland.

Tonight we will stay with in ‘Quiet Waters’.

Total distance on Day 3 is approximately 398 km

Day 4: Esigodini to Bulawayo

Today we will have a leisurely start and make our way to Bulawayo. You will be staying at ‘Khaya Pezulu’ which translated means house high up.

We will have a chance to visit the Bulawayo museum, well worth it. Other than that we will now have time to attend to any vehicle maintenance and relax around a pool with a couple beers.

Total distance on Day 4 is approximately 45 km.

Day 5: Bulawayo & Matopos National Park

Today we will have a chance to stock up on supplies, I will have to obtain police clearance to get into Botswana.

We will drive a short distance to Matopos National Park perhaps accompanied by a long-time resident of Bulawayo, who will give us a talk on Zimbabwean history with a focus on Matopos.

In Matopos you are sure to see white rhino on our game drive. We will get back to Bulawayo later in the evening for a hearty dinner at Chimhavira’s Bulawayo lodge.

Total distance on Day 5 is approximately 80 km.

Day 6: Bulawayo – Victoria Falls

Heading up still further north we will find our selves at Victoria falls which is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Having made our way later in the day it would be ideal to relax on the banks of the mighty Zambezi having a sun downer listening to the hippo’s grunting and snorting close by, or better still why not enjoy a sun downer cruise.

What ever you decide, relax, take it easy and look forward to a good dinner and an action packed day tomorrow!

Total distance on Day 6 is approximately 440 km.

Day 7: Victoria Falls sites and activities

Spend today enjoying the many activities that Victoria Falls has to offer, from white water rafting, to bungi jumping, flying above the falls to walking with elephants, what ever you choose to do, guaranteed, you’ll be talking about this adventure for a very long time to come.

Speak to your safari leader who will be happy to suggest various activities and get you the best possible deals.

Day 8: Victoria Falls – Kalizo Camp

Today we drive to Kaliza Camp spot overlooking the Zambezi River. This camp site is breathtaking with 400m of Zambezi river for you to look over and if you are interested you can take a boat ride out with the owners Danny and Val.

Total distance on Day 8 is approximately 230 km.

Day 9: Kalizo Camp – Ngepi Camp

Ngepi Camp is a very different to any camp in this itinerary and won the “Best camp 2008” prize. The camp overlooks the Okavango and boasts the “Crocodile cage” swimming pool where you can relax, have a beer and wash the days dust off in the river.

Total distance on Day 9 is approximately 360 km.

Day 10: Ngepi Camp - Maun

We will spend most of the day on the road towards Maun and stay over in the Old Bridge Camp site. On arrival you have the opportunity to book a flight over the Delta for the following day.

Total distance on Day 10 is approximately 430 km

Day 11: Maun - Khumaga Wildlife Camp

Lying southeast of the Okavango Delta and surrounded by the Kalahari desert Makgadikgadi is technically not a single pan but many pans with sandy desert in between, the largest being the Sua (Sowa), Ntwetwe and Nxai Pans. The largest individual pan is about 1,900 sq mi (4,921.0 km2). A dry salty clay crust most of the year the pans are seasonally covered with water and grass, and are then a refuge for birds and animals in this very arid part of the world.

Total distance on Day 11 is approximately 310 km

Day 12: Khumunga Wildlife Camp –Deception Valley

The Central Kalahari NP has massive herds of Oryx and Springbok…these are not all on offer, you are likely to see Black-backed jackal, blue wildebeest and bat eared fox. The camp sites are very rustic and comprised of a bucket shower and a toilet…no fences and on reading the literature we you will be amazed to find that people entering this park can actually leave their vehicles but are encouraged not to venture more than 100 meters from their cares for safety reasons.

Total distance on Day 12 is approximately 169 km

Day 13: Central Kalahari National Park - Kwa Nokeng rest camp

Today we will be travelling towards the South African border and we will be stopping over at Martins Drift campsite. Martins Drift is an old mining town so if we have time we can go and have a look through the town.

Total distance on Day 13 is approximately 570 km

Day 14: Martins Drift – Johannesburg

Today is our last day and a long drive back to the South African Capital. We will have time for breakfast, pack away our camping equipment, when we are done you will take your roof tent down for last time and then we will drive the last leg of your itinerary to Johannesburg arriving early evening.

Chimhavira will book you into a guest house for the evening (at your own expense), where you can rest up before the next part of your journey. This evening your safari leader would like to accompany you to dinner.

Total distance on Day 14 is approximately 440 km
